Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade happens once per year and each installment is as star-studded as the last. The department store hires the best performers to wow the masses, ringing in the holiday season with music and extravagant floats. Usually, there's a lip-syncing controversy but nobody has ever manned up and explained why they're forced to lip-sync. While it can be extremely frustrating to see artists fake their own songs, the reasoning behind this makes sense as Rita Ora and John Legend gave fans a lesson on the event while encouraging them to come to their proper concerts.

After receiving some backlash on social media, John Legend was the first to clap back at his critics, telling them the reason why he wasn't actually singing on his float. He explained:
"Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don't have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance. Hope y'all enjoyed it anyway. Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!"
Rita Ora echoes the same sentiment, tweeting that it's even annoying for them. She wants to sing live but the sound design of the event doesn't allow for it. "All my shows are 100 percent live always have been," reminded the star.
We'll try and keep this in mind next year when people are sure to be criticizing the performers again.
