Brockhampton's "Saturation" trilogy owes itself to a pioneer in the hip hop movement.

Brockhampton's Saturation trilogy has been received with a fresh gasp by fans who have a come to expect a real dearth of rap collectives in the culture. Managing a group of individual with diverse styles and backgrounds is a hard act to consolidate, never mind the the money split. We are now living in the age of "the rap superstar." Rappers would much rather lead a bachelor's lifestyle than rent a flat with their mates 7 months out of the year. Brockhampton's Saturation trilogy has gone a long way in changing those views. For one, they took their inspiration from a real age of enlightenment.

Kevin Abstract, one of the more vocal members of the group, took to twitter to pass on his group's inspiration for the project. In the tweet pictured below, Abstract recounts meeting Rick Rubin through Odd Future's manager Christian Clancy. This chance meeting occurred while Abstract was putting the finishing touches on his solo album American Boyfriend. The conversation with Rubin, albeit brief, struck an immediate chord. From that day forward he decided to his increase his productivity, taking on a more prominent position within the group.

This surge of activity produced the Saturation trilogy, staggered over one year. To put that in perspective, that's 3 albums in 8 months. Brockhampton must credit themselves for their infectious desire to participate in the culture, from a sincere place.
