Kemba Walker is Mavs "top target" this Summer.

The Dallas Mavericks' pursuit of All Star point guard Kemba Walker isn't over just yet.

The Mavs reportedly approached the Charlotte Hornets about a trade for Walker leading up to the NBA trade deadline last month, but were turned away by Michael Jordan.

Walker is set to become a free agent this Summer, and although the Hornets have expressed a strong desire to re-sign the 28-year old point guard, Dallas will once again be looking to pry him away.

According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, multiple sources with knowledge of the Mavericks' thinking believe that Walker will be the team's "top target" in free agency.

In 67 games this season, Walker is averaging a career-high 25.1 points per game to go along with 5.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds. He has earned All Star honors in each of his last three seasons, including this year, and will be up for a big contract this Summer. Whether that's with Charlotte, Dallas or some other team remains to be seen.

The Hornets are currently hanging fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, despite their 30-37 record. With 15 games remaining in the regular season, Charlotte is 1.5 games back of the eighth seed Miami Heat, who they'll face on Sunday.
