South Korea's President Moon Jae-In believes Trump deserves the credit for the Korean peace accord.

It's doubtful that anyone out there would consider Donald Trump a peaceful person, especially when it came to his response to the North Korean nuclear threat. There is however, one person who believes that Trump deserves recognition for his efforts, South Korean President Moon Jae-In.

"President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. What we need is only peace," said Moon during a cabinet meeting on Monday.

This follows a historic peace agreement between North and South Korea, signed last Friday alongside North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, which officially puts an end to the Korean War which has been ongoing since 1950. According to The Atlantic, the peace accord comes with the conditions that North Korea must completely halt and dismantle its nuclear weapons program, to which they agreed.

While the Nobel Prize winners have yet to be announced, Trump winning the award would place him among only a handful of other presidents, including Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama.

While Moon seems to believe that Trump deserves the credit, there's still a possibility things could change. Much of the agreement depends on whether Trump will agree to Kim's demands that the U.S. remove its almost 30,000 military personnel from South Korea, as well as removing its "nuclear umbrella" security commitment to South Korea and Japan. A summit between Trump and Kim is scheduled for either late May or early June.

Trump, on his end, has wasted no time taking credit for the peace accord, tweeting on Friday, "KOREAN WAR TO END! The United States, and all of its GREAT people, should be very proud of what is now taking place in Korea!"
