Kenen Thompson's making big moves.

Fresh off his first Emmy Award for his performance in Saturday Night Live, news has surfaced that Kenan Thompson may star in his own primetime comedy series.

Thompson has long been a member of the Saturday Night Live cast, having been with the show for 15 years and 16 seasons. The actor has, however, gone one to achieve success in other roles. His filmography includes Fat Albert, Snakes On A Plane, Love Don't Cost A Thing, Barbershop 2: Back In Business, and Heavyweights. While on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast earlier this year, Thompson said, "I think about leaving and I fear it. This is such a special place, you want to do your part here, but you also want to make room for people that are coming behind you. This was the first year I really started feeling like, 'OK, I could push out of it now."

Deadline reported that the forthcoming series Thompson is set to star in will follow the life of a widowed father of two as he navigates life. Though the show has not been confirmed to take the air, writing and production have already begun.

The move has long been awaited, and audiences are confident that Thompson will succeed.
