"As a black man & fellow gun owner I would like to have a debate."

Killer Mike's interview with the NRA in which he defends gun ownership has been widely debated on Twitter, particularly on Saturday following the #MarchForOurLives rallies across the U.S. Vic Mensa, who attended the DC rally, weighed in on the discussion Saturday evening, directly challenging Mike's views in an effort to create a dialogue. "To @KillerMike: YOU DONT NEED AN AR-15," he wrote. "As a black man & fellow gun owner I would like to have a debate with you about your stances on gun-control."

Within one minute, Mike had replied, seemingly questioning Vic's decision to use Twitter to speak to him rather than making a phone call. "We got the same publicist and u have my phone number. I ain’t dodge’n u," he said.

It is unclear if the two did end up having a private debate following the Twitter interaction. One thing is for sure, Killer Mike has continued to defend his stance on gun ownership on Twitter in the meantime. He clarified that the interview was not an endorsement of the NRA, writing, "I was simply stating gun ownership from a black perspective." In the interview, he stated, “in real life, the cops don’t come on time. In real life, depending on where you live, you’re not gonna have the time to try to logic your way out of something.”

Vic Mensa attended the March For Our Lives rally in DC alongside Kanye West, Common, and Kim Kardashian. He also performed at the event. He has spoken out in support of gun control in the past.
